Get to know me

Growing up as the eldest of seven children, caring for others became a part of who I am from an early age. As a mother of two, my own birth experience—feeling largely alone during the delivery of my son—deeply shaped my passion for supporting women during one of life’s most transformative moments.

Today, I provide compassionate emotional, physical, and educational support to help mothers feel empowered, informed, and confidently supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My goal is to create a calm, reassuring space where you feel heard, cared for, and never alone in your journey.

Pendo La Mama Doula Services proudly supports refugee and immigrant families, including Swahili-speaking mothers, by providing culturally respectful care for those navigating language barriers within the healthcare system. I honor your values, traditions, and birth preferences while supporting the experience that feels right for you and your family.

Birth is a powerful and deeply meaningful experience, and it is an honor to walk alongside mothers during this beautiful transition into parenthood.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

“Pendo La Mama” means “The Love of a Mother.”

When I chose the name Pendo La Mama for my business, I later discovered that my daughter had unknowingly used the exact same name years earlier for a high school art project.

While looking through old photos, I came across a picture of her sculpture with the words “Pendo La Mama” written on it. Seeing that moment years later felt deeply meaningful and created an even stronger connection to the name and the work I do today.

To me, Pendo La Mama represents love, nurturing, connection, and the support every mother deserves throughout her journey.
